Brian Ager European Roundtable of Industrials

Brian Ager is Secretary General of the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT).  The ERT is a forum of some 50 European industrial leaders aiming at promoting the competitiveness and growth of Europe’s economy.  ERT Members are Chairmen and Chief Executives of major European companies. 

Prior to this he was for 16 years Director General of EFPIA, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations, the representative voice of the research-based pharmaceutical industry operations in Europe. 

He previously held the post of Secretary General of EUROPABIO, a Brussels based industry forum addressing policy issues affecting biotechnology in Europe. 

He has also served with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Science, Research and Development and as a consultant with the OECD. 

His background includes ten years in the UK Government’s Health and Safety Executive firstly as a Specialist Inspector of health and safety and then as Secretary to the UK’s Advisory Committee on Genetic Manipulation.  Before that he held posts at the UK Department of Health and in a National Health Service hospital as a clinical biochemist. 

He holds a B.A. (Hons) in Biological Chemistry
